Abstract

Quantum computing poses a significant threat to traditional cryptographic systems, necessitating a shift to quantum-resistant algorithms. This paper examines the potential impact of quantum computing on cybersecurity, analyzing vulnerabilities in widely used encryption protocols such as RSA and ECC. We explore post-quantum cryptography (PQC) techniques, including lattice-based and hash-based cryptography, as viable countermeasures. A comparative analysis of PQC algorithms is provided, along with a roadmap for their adoption in critical industries. The paper emphasizes the urgency of preparing for a post-quantum era to safeguard digital infrastructures.
